2 Day Old Bantu Knot Out - Bigger & Badder!

Ok, I did like this better as the week went on, it just kept getting bigger!  :)

Love My Bantu Knot Out!

This I really wanted to try something new.....I didn't have any new hair products to try out, so it had to be a style.  I decided to revisit bantu knots, since it has been forever since I tried any.
Here is what I did:
  1. Shampooed with Giovanni Tea Tree Shampoo
  2. Deep condition with ORS pack with heat for 30 minutes
  3. Applied BWC leave-in on towel dried hair & sealed with castor oil
  4. Blowdried my hair in sections
  5. Spritzed Devacurl Set It Free on each section
  6. Twisted my hair into bantu knots
  7. Sat under dryer 30 minutes
  8. Let it dry the rest of the way overnight

This is in the morning, taking it down:

And after a bit of seperating & fluffing:

I really like the results...especially since I am still getting the hang of doing the knots correctly.  What do you ladies think?

Wet twistout results

My hair started to feel drier than usual by Day 2....oh well, a bit frizzy, here are my results:

Chunky Twists with DevaCurl Set It Free

Even though it is just 20 degrees, I decided to fore go the heat this week.  I have blowdried my hair for my twistouts since the temperature dropped to avoid having a wet or damp head over night.
This week I decided to change up my whole regimen timing, since I tend to feel quite rushed doing my hair on Sunday evenings.
So on Saturday evening:
  • I shampooed my hair with Giovanni Tea Tree Shampoo
  • Deep conditioned with a mix of Aubrey Island Naturals Conditioner & EVOO with heat for 30 minutes
  • Sectioned my hair into 4 sections
  • Applied BWC leave-in to each section & detangled
  • Sealed each section with Castor oil & twisted up into a bun, making sure the ends were tucked under
  • Tied my hair up & went to sleep (Yes with wet hair)
  • On Sunday morning, my hair was still damp, but had started drying some
  • I undid each section, divided it into 4 sections, spritzed with Set It Free and made 4 twists
This seemed like it took so much less time to do!!  I was through with my twists before 11am, so my hair might just be dry by Monday morning for my twistout.  Having wet hair in the winter time is not pleasant!  I will check the drying progress later this evening & sit under my dryer if it feels too damp to be dry by morning.  This is my first wet twistout in months, so I will post the results later this week.

Results from rod rollerset

This came out ok....given it was my first atttempt and my technique was somewhat flawed.  My hair was not completely dry in a couple spots, but did not frizz out.  I don't think I would use the same products, but I definitely am trying this again, perhaps when it is a bit warmer outside to ensure my hair being completely by the next day.  I wasn't sure how to maintain it, but it held up for 3 days before I decided to twist my hair.

Trying a rod rollerset with...Lottabody Setting Lotion

So I want to try some new things with my hair this year.  It's longer now, so I have more styling options.
I decided to try a rod set on my already blowdried hair.  After sectioning my hair off, I started with spritzing with aloe vera gel, then some Castor oil on the ends to comb it out.  I diluted Lottabody Setting Lotion with water 1 part/4 part ratio and spritzed 4-5 times on each section, I used end papers & the purple 3/4 inch rod roller.  I made sure to bend the rod so that the roots were pretty straight.  My hair was not saturated, so I am hoping it will be dry in the morning without hours under the dryer.  I plan to sit under the dryer for 1 hour only.  I'll be posting the results...I hope it comes out OK!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all!  I wish everyone to have a safe & prosperous new year for 2011.

This time of year for me is a time for reflection of the previous year & contemplation of the upcoming years and all the possibilities offered.  I fell short of many of my goals for 2010, but that just allows more opportunity for success this year.  In retrospect overall, I learned quite a bit(not enough), shared some(not enough) & gained much(more than I hoped for).

A couple of things I learned that I wanted to share:
You become what you think about, whether it be positive or negative.
Our intention definitely influences our reality.
Visualization exercises really do work.

One thing I learned & am truly starting to believe:
Within each of us is the divine capacity to manifest and attract all that we need or desire.
